Dr. Harris attended the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. He went on to complete his post graduate work in orthodontics at the University of Texas Dental Branch, and in 1984 opened his practice in Deer Park, Texas.

Dr. Harris is a Life Member and an Honorable Order of Good Fellow in the Texas Dental Association. He holds a Life Active Membership of the American Association of Orthodontists and is a member of the Greater Houston Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists and the World Federation of Orthodontists.

He has served as president of the Baylor Parents League and in 2004 was named an Honorary Alumni of Baylor University.
