About our Organization

WHAT DOES TAO
STAND FOR?

The Texas Association of Orthodontists is a professional organization of orthodontic specialists committed to maintaining the highest standards of orthodontic care for the benefit and well-being of our patients throughout the state of Texas. As an organization, we are dedicated to advocating for our members and providing services that benefit their pursuit of professional excellence.

Since its formation, TAO has tirelessly worked to educate patients in Texas about the importance of in-person care with a qualified professional orthodontist. We utilize our social media platforms (some of the most active of any state orthodontist organization in the nation) to fight back against any misinformation and DIY orthodontic care trends that may arise.

We advocate on a state and national level for laws that protect consumers from substandard orthodontic care.

TAO is one of five components (Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and west Louisiana) of the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists (SWSO) which is a constituent of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO).

To become a TAO member, an orthodontist has to complete an AAO membership application.
